The Ultimate SPACE OWLS Rule List
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 12:05 amHere are the rules all in one place rather than scattered all over. It is highly recommended that you read the game info and only use this list for quick reference.
- The mod has final say over everything. A player may try and reason with the mod if they feel the mod is being unfair, but if the mod says their decision on a matter is final, it is final. If a player continues to argue, that is grounds for being booted and/or banned from the game.
- No godmodding (i.e., controlling another player's character's actions without the player's permission). It's bad, no one likes it, it will get you suspended from the game.
- Definitely no killing PCs without getting the other player's approval. Obtaining the blessing of the mod is also recommended.
- No drama-ing out character deaths. If you post it, the mod will delete it (unless it's absolutely hilarious and the mod feels it to be in keeping with the cracktastic nature of the game; then it will stay, but only for pointing and laughing—you will not be doing yourself any favors, Chuck).
- No sexy stuff in game. You can lead up to it and then fade to black, or lead up to it and then hop to a thread in your character or personal journal, but no smut in the actual comm.
- Always, always treat your fellow players with respect. The only player who is allowed to be disrespectful is the mod, and then only when acting in mod capacity.
- All played characters must be human, one of the races described in Harry Potter, or a combination thereof. These include: Werewolves, vampires, house elves, goblins, giants, merfolk, centaurs, veela, trolls. Half-breeds (offspring of a human and a non-human individual such as a veela or a giant) are allowed, however characters cannot claim descent from more than two races.
- Aspects of magical races are limited to those found in the Harry Potter books (some wiggle room can be found in terms of real world mythos surrounding certain races). Therefore the only elves allowed are house elves, and the only vampires allowed are the kind found in HP.
- All characters from the Harry Potter universe are off-limits and may not be played. This goes for NPCs of any HP characters as well.
- If you choose to play an original character, they cannot claim descent from any fandom character.
- Original and RPF characters may only possess one special power. Likewise, transposed canon characters should not be over-powered either, however some leeway will be allowed for those struggling to transpose their character while maintaining the integrity of the character. "Power" in this case refers to magical abilities (e.g. animagi, metamorphmagi, seers, etc.). Physical prowess and abilities should be similarly limited to prevent over-powered individuals.
- Only colonists may be played at this time.
- Each player is allowed only one character.
- Players may introduce NPC pets, family members, friends, and co-workers, however all sapient NPCs based on characters from a PC's canon should have limited development.
