The Premise

It is centuries in the future and Earth is reaching out and colonizing other planets. The CBRA-class (Colonist Bearing Resettlement Ark) vessel SPACE OWLS has just touched down on the second planet of the Zirbraxes system (Zirbraxes 2, colloquially referred to as Zebratoo), ready to start the first Earth colony on the planet.

Over six decades ago, the division between the magical and mundane worlds was eradicated, and though they may not all live in harmony, Muggles, witches and wizards, half-breeds and magical creatures no longer live in ignorance of one another as they once did. The colony that will be founded on Zirbraxes 2 is a first attempt at building a community that fully acknowledges and integrates both magical and mundane technology; accordingly, the colonists that make up its population are a combination of all those mentioned above.

SPACE OWLS is meant to be a fun, text-heavy game for skilled writers. To this end, if the mod feels your writing is not strong enough to challenge and engage the other players, you will not be accepted. If at any time the mod feels that you are not writing to the best of your ability within the game, you may be booted or put on probation. Keep all of this in mind when providing your writing sample. <u><b>Character Details</b></u> <i>Note that pretty much all parts of the character application are subject to mod approval.</i> <b>Name:</b> Characters must have first and last names, even if they do not possess both in their canon. <b>Series:</b> Put "OC" if original. If a real person, put "RPF" and the associated fandom (LotRPS, bandom, popslash, etc.) <b>Journal:</b> The journal you intend to use when playing this character. If planning to create a character journal, you can wait until the character is approved to create the journal, however you must still include the intended journal name. <b>Age:</b> Played characters must be at least 12 years old. <b>Species/Nature:</b> If human, specify whether magic or mundane; if half-breed, specify the combination (e.g., veela + mundane human, etc.; vampires and werewolves count as half-breeds) in this space and put "half-breed" in the one below; if non-human entirely, specify species (merfolk, giant, goblin, etc.). <b>Blood:</b> Pick from one of the following:</b> pure-blood, half-blood, Muggleborn, half-breed, N/A. Use N/A for all mundane humans (excepting squibs) and non-humans (excepting vampires and werewolves, who are classed as half-breeds). <b>Occupation:</b> All adult characters must have an occupation that is somehow useful to the establishment, construction, or running of the colony; if the character is the child of adult colonists, note that here and list the parents' occupations. <b>Physical Description:</b> List the PB with a link to an image of the PB, or link to an illustration of the character, or provide a physical description of the character if you have chosen to forgo a PB. All players must include their character's approximate height and build. <b>Personality overview:</b> A paragraph or more describing your character's personality. Hopes/dreams/aspirations/goals should be included here, as well as likes and dislikes. Should be at least 100 words long, but no longer than 1,000 words. <b>Abilities and specialties:</b> Any special abilities your character may possess. For magical characters, this includes magical competence and other special abilities such as a metamorphmagus, animagus, or seer. For all characters, this should include whatever fields the character particularly excels in (herbology/botany/horticulture, biology, animal husbandry/care of magical creatures, defense/offense [specify whether this is strictly magical, physical, or both], survival, etc.). Any hobbies or extra-curricular activities your character may have should be included here. For adult characters, also include a brief paragraph (approx. 100–200 words) detailing the character's experience/training and/or ability in their occupation; what makes this particular doctor/soldier/scientist/whatever so particularly qualified for the job? <b>Brief history:</b> A brief history describing your character's life up until now. It is helpful to include how and/or why your character chose to join an expedition that has taken them light years away from everything they know and hold dear. Should be at least 300 words long, but no longer than 1,500 words. If you're running short on space (or, conversely, can't think of what to say), focus on why your character has chosen to join the Zirbraxis 2 colony. <b>Alignment and loyalties:</b> What are your character's political affiliations? Is your character for or against magical/mundane unification? If your character is magical in nature, do they generally subscribe to "light" magic or "dark" magic? <b>Long-term plots you would like to explore:</b> Is there a particular plot you have an aching, pressing need to play? These can be character-specific or things that you just think would be fun (like if you want a genderswap plot, or a time-travel one, or something like that). <b>Anything else the mod should know:</b> If you have a character secret, put it here! This is if there's something you want the mod to know about your character (such as a secret you don't want other players to know yet), or about you as a person. If you have any specific triggers that you will need other players in the game to accommodate, be sure to list it here so that the mod can take that it into account when planning and implementing plots.
